The intention of this municipal museum is to collect and stimulate the most significant aspects of the culture of oil and olive groves. It is an educational environment where visitors can have an experience, through their five senses, that allows them to approach and deepen in this millenary fabric of culture, combining the exchange of knowledge, with the development of activities and the proposition of practices healthy. In this sense, the city of Baena is a privileged place where you can find living examples of the different contents that are presented here.
The building that houses the museum belongs to an old mill and has an exhibition area of more than 800 m2, distributed over two floors.
On the GROUND FLOOR there is the reception area, the restored and operating oil mill and the winery, as well as the contents about the history of the olive grove. A multipurpose room allows viewing of different audiovisuals.
The UPPER FLOOR there is a wide interpretive repertoire about the various uses of oil and olives: light, heat, electrical energy, medicine, crafts, art and, of course, cooking.
