Alcázar (Fortress) of the Gate of Seville

Located in Blas Infante Square.

The Alcázar (Muslim fortress) stands on the Gate of Seville, forming an almost impregnable defensive complex.

It underwent important changes during the 14th and 15th centuries. It was restored between 1973 and 1975 and its different areas have been enabled for the celebration of cultural and tourist events. Currently, the Alcázar is the Tourist Reception Centre for the city of Carmona.

It has several elements to highlight, such as the Torre del Homenaje (Homage Tower) that reaches the height of the courtyard and preserves the rusticated ashlars intact. The Torre del Oro (Gold Tower) from where you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of Carmona, several halls and a Patio de los Aljibes (Aljibes courtyard), so-called because in the centre of the courtyard there is a cistern excavated in the rock with six openings around it.

If you wish to visit it, you can make an appointment at the Tourist Reception Centre.
