Roman Portus (old pier)

On the banks of the river Guadalquivir, as it passes through the town, there are traces of an old pier that could be of Roman origin.  Traditionally it has been a boarding place to cross the river before the construction of the bridge on the CO-3313. In the nearby country houses of Villaseca or the Temple, among others, remains of Roman villas have been found, as well as ovens and pottery of olearia amphorae meant to be exported by boats on the river Guadalquivir. The surroundings offer a privileged location to observe the flora and fauna of the riverside and magnificent views of the river and the castle.
