Casas Consistoriales (Town Hall)

It is a civil building built to be the seat of the Casas Consistoriales (Town Hall) and, at present, of the Town Hall of Montoro.  Its construction began in the 16th century in an artistic style that is halfway between Renaissance and Mannerism. The great reform of the building dates from the 18th century, when the second body of the façade was added and its rooms were enlarged, including a small jail. The inside shows magnificent coffered ceilings in the Mudejar tradition.

This monument has been mistakenly linked to the House of Alba, although it was conceived, financed and built exclusively by the people of Montoro. The result is a building measured in its ornaments and balanced in its proportions, considered one of the best examples of public buildings in the province of Cordoba.
