San Juan de Letrán (Saint John Lateran) Church

Rebuilt in the first years of the 17th century, the church of San Juan de Letrán houses one of the most venerated relics by the people of Montoro: the statue of Our Father Jesus the Nazarene. It is a sculpture by Pío Mollar Franch (1940), replacing another statue from the 17th century of identical iconography, work by the sculptor Alonso Garrido from Andújar, that was destroyed during the Civil War.

The statue is carried through the streets at dawn on Holy Thursday accompanied by María Santísima de los Dolores, San Juan, the Magdalena and the Veronica Woman together with a battalion of Romans and the Antiquísimo Coro de Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno (Ancient Choir of Our Father Jesus the Nazarene) y María Santísima de los Dolores, being one of the milestones of the Holy Week in Montoro.
